Coffee With Capital Mass
a biweekly online gathering during lockdown
Capital Mass is starting a new gathering during the Covid-19 period.
“Coffee with Capital Mass” is an online gathering for church and community leaders to meet and chat about issues they are seeing in their local context during lockdown.
It’s an hour together, aiming to be a safe space to talk, ask questions, listen to each others’ stories and find out more.
Each time we’ll invite in expert wisdom and experience from our friends and partner organisations, to add a richness to the conversation.
Our first meeting, two weeks ago where we explored helping people with mental health, and raising awareness of the issues of domestic abuse in our churches ago was a great time together and a real source of encouragement and hope. As one attendee said “You made me feel supported and connected with like-minded people…very valuable! “
This meeting, next Tuesday (12th May) we’ll look at the pressing issue of food poverty, and how churches and communities are responding to the huge increase in demand as lockdown continues?
This Coffee time, we’re delighted to be joined by: Heather Buckingham, Head of Church Engagement at the Trussell Trust who run the largest network of foodbanks in the UK Terry Puttick, from London City Mission who’s been co-ordinating & resourcing an ecumenical response from churches across London as they respond to food poverty in all it’s forms during lockdown. Plus, of course, church and commuity leaders from all over London!
How can we pray and respond to these issues in our churches and communities? We’ll have an hour where we can explore the sort of things we’re facing on the ground, learn from each other, share questions we have, and gain wisdom as to what we can do practically.
We will send you the zoom link; you bring the coffee, (and even a biccie if that’s your thing), and we’ll host a space for conversation, questions and support with help from our expert contributors. Together we will navigate these areas and learn more about how to respond with compassion and urgency.
And if there are other issues you’d love us to tackle, please let us know.
Because we want there to be room for everyone to contribute we are limiting the number at each session.
Booking is FREE but limited, so please book your place here
