CAP Kickstart: a new resource to help churches respond to need
at a time when so many people are facing difficulty and change, a tool to help the church offer hope
In a mid-pandemic world, people are facing unemployment, shrinking incomes, worry and loss.
Our friends at Christians Against Poverty (CAP) have developed a new online resource “Kickstart”, free for churches to use.
Here, Sam Leach from CAP explains more about this exciting offer.
None of us could have predicted the impact of a global pandemic on our everyday lives, but we serve a steadfast God who remains certain when nothing else feels as though it is.
As his Church, we can truly make a difference in our communities right now.
Kick Start from Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a tool that equips you, the local church to respond to the needs we know will exist in all of our communities as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Pulling together nine bitesize sessions, Kick Start opens up conversations and gives practical tips on job searching, money management, habits that harm and the emotional challenges of worry and loss. Tips on how to introduce faith into the conversations are also included.
How does it work?
Since the start of lockdown, we’ve all seen the huge opportunity that online communities provide to the Church.
People who would never normally connect have tried out a church service for the first time, from the comfort of their own home. Those who can’t go out easily have been able to attend groups to talk and pray together.
Kick Start makes the most of this new chapter in the UK church’s experience.
All the sessions are designed to be run either online, or face to face where appropriate. Short videos are provided that you can share to spark conversation, then chat through the issues and practical tips raised.
You don’t need to use all the sessions, just pick the ones most relevant to your community right now.
Our hope with Kick Start is that you’ll come away not only having helped people through some tough challenges, but also having built a lasting supportive community.
The Church has already led the way in local communities in responding to the needs around them over the last few months, and we hope these new resources will help you continue to do that in a practical and Christ-centred way.
Kick Start is free, downloadable and easy to use.
